  • The event recognised the winners of its 2024 Mitie Stars awards, some of its longest serving colleagues, its class of distinction achieving Level 7 Leadership apprentices, its Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (ED&I) network leads, and top Apprentices of the year winners
  • Special guests Franceschina (Frankie) Romano and June Bearcroft, who are still working for Mitie at 92 and 89 years of age, also joined the celebrations

  • Mitie has been awarded a contract with London South Bank University (LSBU) Group to deliver integrated facilities management services for five years, with the option to extend for a further two
  • Delivering services across LSBU and South Bank College’s estates, this is the first time that all FM services across the university group will be brought together under one provider
  • Mitie’s social value approach will be key to the contract, including introducing apprentices and work placement opportunities for local residents

  • Wave of sustainability stress as almost two in five (38%) sustainability decision makers admit to not being clear about what they need to report on with almost half (46%) now reporting to at least three different ESG frameworks as confusion about the legislation labyrinth builds
  • Over a quarter (28%) say they are not sure they are equipped to comply if legislation becomes stricter and three fifths (60%) are worried about the impact on both their reputation and company finances if their reporting is found to be insufficient
  • Just 13% believe the current approach to reporting works, yet the majority are not in favour of a shift to sector specific reporting frameworks or a move to one single UK and EU-wide standard

  • Mitie has secured a new five-year contract, with the option to extend up to a total of ten years, with His Majesty’s Revenue and Customs (HMRC) to provide security services across its nationwide estate 
  • The contract, valued at approximately £15 million a year, will see Mitie continue to support HMRC’s ten-year transformation programme by enhancing its security intelligence offering and introducing a new digital risk management tool 
  • Mitie has committed to taking on 75 apprentices, part of its pledge for 5% of its workforce in earn and learn positions as a member of the 5% Club

  • Mitie has been appointed to the Crown Commercial Service’s (CCS) Healthcare Soft Facilities Management (FM) Services Framework agreement to support the delivery of FM services to the NHS and other healthcare organisations
  • Under this framework agreement, Mitie will be able to bid for contracts across 12 lots of services covering cleaning (both general and ambulance cleaning), catering, landscaping, and waste management services
  • This follows Mitie’s recent appointment as supplier on the NHS Shared Business Services (NHS SBS) Sustainable Transport and Infrastructure framework agreement

  • ‘Emissions Intelligence’ is the latest addition to Mitie’s ‘Plan Zero’, a suite of services to support organisations to decarbonise, improve efficiency and secure their energy supply

  • Mitie has secured a new project with MYTILINEOS Energy & Metals, to deliver electrical grid connection works for a solar PV development site in Leicestershire 
  • The £4m project will be undertaken by Mitie’s G2 Energy business and will see the company deliver a range of services including site surveying, designing, cable jointing, and network cable installations 
  • The project is expected to generate enough electricity to serve 18,000 homes and save approximately 16,000 tonnes of carbon emissions a year
