- Custom Solar, part of Mitie, has completed the installation of a new 1.25MWp roof-top solar photovoltaic (PV) array at Pets at Home’s new National Distribution Centre, which will supply products to the national pet care brand’s 450-plus stores
- The solar solution will reduce carbon emissions by over 221 tonnes a year – the equivalent annual energy use of over 80 homes
- The contract, worth approximately £1 million, has seen Customer Solar manage the design, development and installation of the solar array to help Pets at Home meet its carbon reduction targets

- G2 Energy, part of Mitie Power & Grid, will be the Principal Designer and Principal Contractor on one of the UK’s largest Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) near Staythorpe Power Station in the East Midlands
- Mitie will lead the design and build of the new 400kV grid substation that will connect to the neighbouring National Grid Staythorpe 400kV substation by mid-2027
- Over 720MWh of energy will be stored, enough to power more than 95,000 homes for a full day

- Research from Mitie reveals that one in five (19%) Brits think their employers should be doing more to keep them safe
- This rises to more than a quarter (27%) of those aged 18-34 and to over a third (36%) of people who work outside of traditional hours or commute in the dark
- In response, Mitie has announced a package of employee wellbeing initiatives, including a pioneering partnership with personal safety app, WalkSafe, to help organisations support the personal safety of their employees

- HRH The Princess Royal this week visited the Heathrow Immigration Removal Centre in her role as Patron of The Butler Trust
- The Butler Trust is a charity that recognises the work of frontline custodial colleagues and HRH has personally presented its awards since 1985
- During her visit, HRH met with 2024 and 2018 Butler Trust Award winners Irfa Chaudhri and Jackie Smart, as well as many other frontline colleagues from across the Centre

- Mitie has secured a new five-year contract, worth £81.7 million, with the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA), with the option to extend for an additional two years
- Mitie will be responsible for planned and reactive engineering maintenance across 12 buildings at DVLA sites in Wales, bringing its innovative approach to remote maintenance
- In addition, Mitie is delivering decarbonisation projects including installing ground source heat pumps across DVLA sites to help the Agency to meet its Greening Government Commitments
