Kelly Onley, a Tenant Liaison Officer (TLO) working for MITIE on its responsive repairs and voids contract with Milton Keynes Council has won the Contractors Tenant Liaison Officer of the Year award at the TPAS Connecting People Awards final.
The awards, held on 1 August and attended by over 700 guests, were organised by Northern, Midlands and Southern Housing magazines in conjunction with Tenant Participation Advisory Service (TPAS) to reward tenants and people who work in communities across England.
Kelly, who won the Southern Regional Awards in March of this year, has worked with MITIE for a little over two and a half years and beat the other two finalists thanks to her hard work and passion in providing a great service to her tenants. “I am extremely proud to have received this award,” said Kelly. “I would like to thank MITIE and all the people that I work with for their support.”
Kelly is responsible for liaising with tenants in 12,000 homes over a widespread geographic area. She plays a key role in the lives of many tenants and is a listening ear if there is anything that they are unsure about. Her job includes everything from organising events and spreading the word about the latest developments to ironing out problems and being a good listener, advisor and all-round friendly face.
Adrian Dawson, Regional Director for MITIE’s social housing team, commented: “I’m extremely proud of what Kelly has achieved. Our values as a company are people, passion, fresh thinking and exciting futures and I cannot think of anybody who embodies them more than Kelly.”
Councillor Chris Williams, Cabinet member for Milton Keynes Council, said: “Improving the experience of our customers is the most important thing that we and MITIE can do to enhance the Housing Service. Kelly makes an enormous contribution to this and our thanks go out to her. I am delighted that her dedication and hard work has been recognised by this prestigious award.”
Lynda Bull, Director of Community Wellbeing for Milton Keynes Council, said: “Kelly’s commitment to tenant liaison has helped us achieve our objectives and keep customer satisfaction at an all time high level. It’s fantastic to attend the event and see Kelly recognised publicly for all her efforts.”

What is MITIE?
We’re the strategic outsourcing and asset management company.
What does that mean in practice? Providing everything from strategic consultancy, to world-class delivery on the ground. From long-term infrastructure planning, to facilities management, property and engineering services. Our strategic input can add value at the highest level, while our practical management expertise can save customers money and maximise their returns.
At the same time, it’s not just what we do, but how we do it that makes us different. Our people are passionate about what they do, committed to working in partnership with their clients, and will always look for a fresh answer to a new challenge.
We work with our clients in three ways; some take full advantage of our whole range of expertise by buying the whole suite, others may only need one aspect of what we do:
Strategy and consultancy
+ Facilities and project management
+ Service delivery
In other words, we think, we manage, and we deliver.
The thinking phase is all about finding strategic answers to long-term challenges about assets and resources. Facilities and project management puts those plans in place, and our unrivalled range of services is one of the best in the business.
There’s a lot more to MITIE than you probably think. We’re a big company with big ambitions - a leading FTSE 250 support services business, with more than 50,000+ people, revenues in excess of £1.5bn, and a reputation for being the best.
