The partnership between Merlin Housing Society, MITIE and Crown Paints to deliver all of the painting programmes across Merlin Housing Society’s stock of properties is off to a great start. MITIE has just finished the first redecoration project at Grace Court, bringing a burst of new life to the flats and communal lounge at the site.
As part of the redecoration of Grace Court, Crown Paints donated a park bench made from recycled plastic paint packs used by the partnership and MITIE donated new curtains for the communal lounge. To celebrate the completion of this project, residents were invited to an event where before and after photos of Grace Court could be viewed and representatives from all three organisations were on hand to answer any questions about the improvement works. This also marks the start of a long-term, working relationship between Merlin Housing Society, MITIE and Crown Paints.
Paul Noble, Director of MITIE’s painting team said, “All three organisations worked in partnership from day one of this project and by involving local residents we made sure that everyone would be happy with the end result. The redecoration of Grace Court is a perfect example of how we want this partnership to work and I look forward to many more success stories like this one.”
Sharron Hollis, Project Manager at Merlin Housing Society added, “The painting and repair works at Grace Court has made a real difference to the appearance of the properties. We got great feedback from residents at the event and we’re looking forward to working with MITIE and Crown Paints to deliver more improvement works like this to local residents.”
Speaking for Crown Paints, Ian Lealand, Specification Team Manager commented, “We’re firm believers in partnership as the way to achieve the best outcome for all parties – especially residents. This project demonstrates perfectly just what can be achieved through successful collaboration”. MITIE was awarded this contract with Merlin Housing Society in April 2010 and over six years will carry out cyclical internal and external decoration services to Merlin Housing Society’s diverse housing stock of 8,000 properties.

What is MITIE?
We’re the strategic outsourcing company. What does that mean in practice? We manage facilities, properties and assets for our clients across the UK and beyond.
We work with our clients in three ways; some take full advantage of our whole range of expertise, others may only need one aspect of what we do:
Strategy and consultancy
+ Facilities and project management
+ Service delivery
Our strategic input can add value at the highest level by helping clients to manage their assets, while our practical management expertise can save customers money and reduce their carbon emissions. We work with a vast number of clients in every industry across both the public and private sectors and deliver the broadest range of services that can be found in one place: from integrated facilities management to engineering maintenance to lifecycle energy management and much more.
There’s a lot more to MITIE than you probably think. We’re a big company with big ambitions – a leading FTSE 250 support services business, with more than 56,000 people, revenues in excess of £1.7bn, and a reputation for being the best.
