MITIE has won two 10-month refurbishment and redecoration contracts for Flagship Housing Group in Newmarket, worth in excess of £2.8m.
Flagship Housing Group is the largest provider of affordable homes in the Eastern Region and through its principal Group Members Suffolk Heritage Housing Association, Peddars Way Housing Association and Kings’ Forest Housing, owns and manages over 20,000 homes. The 10-month contracts, totalling in excess of £2.8m, have now commenced and will see MITIE working in over 160 properties as well as communal areas in Newmarket.
Regent’s Court is a sheltered complex of 33 flats where MITIE will be carrying out a complete internal refurbishment and redecoration project, incorporating the fitting of new kitchens and bathrooms which formed part of the offer document to tenants at the time of transfer of their homes from Forest Heath District Council, installation of new flooring and doors and replacement of windows. MITIE will also be installing new mechanical and electrical services, including a replacement lift, as well as refurbishing the communal area, providing a new entrance and conservatory and landscaping the grounds.
Regent’s Court residents have moved into other sheltered accommodation in the district or into independent accommodation whilst the work is carried out.
MITIE will also completely refurbish and redecorate the internal areas at Icewell Hill, an estate of 134 housing association flats. MITIE’s work will include the external painting of residents’ homes and communal areas, replacement flooring and doors, electrical work, installation of new CCTV cameras at all entances and the upgrading of emergency lighting and fire alarm systems. External work will also include refurbishing garages and refuse areas, and painting of external surfaces to the seven blocks of flats.
