Mitie has won a new contract with construction firm Willmott Dixon to provide mechanical and electrical services for Bournemouth University. This is the second contract Mitie has been awarded on this campus working with Willmott Dixon to provide services to Bournemouth University and follows its successful delivery of building services for the iconic, zinc-clad Fusion building, which opened in 2016.
Mitie will fit all building services for the new Poole Gateway Building on the Poole campus of the university, including heating, lighting, power, ventilation and air conditioning. The work will also include installing above ground drainage, fire alarms, IT infrastructure, CCTV, security and renewables projects such as harvesting rain water. Mitie’s work has already commenced on the building, which is due to be completed in summer 2019.
The Poole Gateway Building will provide an impressive visual statement at the entrance to the campus. It has been designed with a striking triangular glazed atrium, which gives a nod to the technology focus inside. The cutting-edge facility will incorporate live and post production TV facilities, a green screen with motion capture studio, audio studios and sound editing labs for use by Students from the faculties of Media & Communication and Science & Technology. These state-of-the-art facilities will ensure Bournemouth University maintains its leading reputation for excellence in teaching TV and media production and computer animation.
