Mitie has announced today that Lorraine Davis has been appointed as Director of Cleaning Services. With the pandemic demonstrating the importance of cleaning in keeping the nation running safely, Lorraine will be responsible for leading the direction of Mitie’s cleaning business. This appointment builds on Mitie’s investment in industry leading cleaning innovations and its commitment to drive best practice to ensure it continues delivering exceptional cleaning services for its customers.
Lorraine has over 40 years’ experience in the cleaning industry, working in a number of operational and business development roles in complex environments, such as healthcare and education. In 2019, Lorraine was appointed Chairman of the British Institute of Cleaning Science (BICSc), a post she will continue to hold until September 2022. She has also previously collaborated with the World Health Organisation, as part of the Clean Hospital Group, and the NHS to help develop the 2021 National Cleaning Standards for hospitals. In addition, Lorraine has worked with Public Health England to support with the development of the Covid-19 guidance for Facilities Management.
Lorraine brings a wealth of experience from encouraging the adoption of new cleaning technology through to helping design guidance for healthcare cleaning to support infection control. As Director of Cleaning Services, Lorraine will develop Mitie’s ‘Centre of Excellence’ training academy as well as drive Mitie’s innovation-led approach to cleaning, for example with the rollout of technology such as robotic cleaners that use ultraviolet light to disinfect surfaces and sensors that monitor footfall to identify spaces that are used frequently and where cleaning should be prioritised. Lorraine will also work to ensure that Mitie continues to introduce services that not only help keep sites safe, but also support customers’ sustainability goals, such as chemical-free cleaning solutions, as part of Mitie’s Plan Zero commitment.
