Mitie, the FTSE 250 strategic outsourcing company, has signed up to the Business Services Association's (BSA) newly published Responsible Cleaner Scheme (RCS).

The RCS is a list of commitments which value, recognise and reward the hard work and dedication of employees. Mitie has become one of 16 companies to sign up to the RCS.

Martyn Freeman, Chairman of the Business Services Association's (BSA) cleaning group and Managing Director of Mitie's Facilities Management business, said:

"It is great to see the industry has come together in this way, demonstrating that it values its employees and is dedicated to further professionalism. I am really proud that businesses are working together to achieve these goals and it is a sign of the direction in which the industry is heading.

"The commitments demonstrate existing good practice. Importantly, employees, clients and wider stakeholders can now see the principles which RCS members abide by. This is a great scheme for the industry and everyone involved within it."
