We are delighted to announce we have won the ‘innovation in customer service’ category for our Vision FM Software at Luton International Airport at this year's BIFM Awards. The system, which facilitates movement of passengers with reduced mobility through the airport, knows exactly when a passenger is planning to arrive, the type of assistance that's required and their name and flight information. Employees are automatically allocated a passenger via their PDA which also provides status updates in real-time.
Mark Hazelwood, Customer Solutions Director for FM, commented: “The solution at Luton International Airport provided a cost benefit for the client as well as an enhanced service for the airport’s customers using the PRM service from MITIE. This demonstrates our business solutions function working closely with the customer providing a solution that offers real business benefit.”
The annual BIFM Awards was held on 11 October at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London. This is the biggest and most prestigious networking event within the UK’s FM calendar. The evening was hosted by Myleene Klass with comedian Ian Irving providing the entertainment. Over 1,200 people from the FM industry attended the dinner and recognised the achievements of the BIFM Award winners.
Martyn Freeman, MD of FM, said: “I am so proud of the team’s achievements in winning a BIFM Award. It was a tough category with stiff competition and to walk away with an award is an outstanding accomplishment.”
A huge congratulations to everyone involved!

What is MITIE?
We’re the strategic outsourcing company. What does that mean in practice? We manage facilities, properties and assets for our clients across the UK and beyond.
We work with our clients in three ways; some take full advantage of our whole range of expertise, others may only need one aspect of what we do:
Strategy and consultancy
+ Facilities and project management
+ Service delivery
Our strategic input can add value at the highest level by helping clients to manage their assets, while our practical management expertise can save customers money and reduce their carbon emissions. We work with a vast number of clients in every industry across both the public and private sectors and deliver the broadest range of services that can be found in one place: from integrated facilities management to engineering maintenance to lifecycle energy management and much more.
There’s a lot more to MITIE than you probably think. We’re a big company with big ambitions – a leading FTSE 250 support services business, with more than 56,000 people, revenues in excess of £1.7bn, and a reputation for being the best.
