Two of Mitie’s employees have been recognised for excellence at the PFM and BEST Training awards, reinforcing the importance the company places on developing talent.
Antony Law, a regional operations manager in maintenance and engineering, won Young Manager of the Year at this year’s Premises and Facilities Management (PFM) Awards.
Reece Sandy, an apprentice, was awarded the under 18 Building Services Apprentice of the Year at the London and South East Building Engineering Service Training (BEST) Awards.
Antony’s highly competitive award recognises management potential among facilities professionals at the beginning of their careers.
Three finalists were chosen from a large pool of applicants, including Sarah Campbell from Mitie’s Client Services business.
Antony began his career with Mitie as an apprentice in 2001 and has progressed rapidly through the business to his current position as regional operations manager.
He is now responsible for £12m worth of contracts, including the Olympic Park, EMI, Trafalgar Square and AON.
In 2003 Antony won UK Apprentice of the Year and in 2010 picked up a PFM Award for the partnership with Trafalgar Square.
Reece Sandy joined Mitie in September 2011 and enrolled on a BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Building Services Maintenance Engineering from Kingston College.
He has been recognised by BEST as under 18 Apprentice of the Year for his maturity and commitment to his studies, setting a motivating example to his peers through his strong desire to learn.
Reece was a worthy winner of the award, demonstrating an all-round commitment to his studies, employment, and extra-curricular activities.
He has completed his NVQ Level 2 qualification, as well as training for and achieving the title of 60kg Commonwealth Judo Champion for Great Britain.
Mitie’s 74,000 people are its greatest asset; the organisation is passionate about providing a thriving and positive environment to develop the business leaders of the future.
Award winning initiatives such as Real Apprentice and the achievements of individual employees are testament to Mitie’s commitment to staff and the communities to which it belongs.
