MITIE nominated for four Security Excellence Awards

A new record for MITIE’s Total Security Management business

On Tuesday the finalists for the 2011 Security Excellence Awards were announced, with MITIE achieving four finalist places. The awards promote and reward those individuals and companies within the security industry for achieving the very highest standards and outstanding success. Acknowledged as the ‘Oscars’ of the security world, this glittering night celebrates the industry’s best practitioners and projects and is the biggest annual networking opportunity for anyone involved in security.

The four categories we are finalists in are:

Security Guarding Company of the Year - industry changes have demanded a more integrated, risk-based approach to security and we have responded to change whilst proactively advancing our organisation. Our risk-based approach differentiates us in the marketplace and shows our commitment to working in partnership with our clients rather than selling a commoditised service.

Integrated Security Solution of the Year for our work with Capgemini, one of the world's foremost providers of consulting, technology and outsourcing services. When we began working with Capgemini its security services were provided by different suppliers without any synergy or integration. We provide all security services through one highly trained and highly motivated team, with one point of contact for optimum communication.

IT Initiative of the Year for the web-based management system MITIE Total Security Manager (MiTSM). Developed to make front-line roles simpler and quicker, our operational procedures have improved greatly. Managers can now complete duties away from the office, resulting in more officer and client-facing time to develop and enhance relationships. Environmental benefits include paperless news and communications, reduced car journeys, and paperless payslips. Financial benefits include reduced postage, paper and fuel costs.

Security Training Initiative of the Year for the ‘Creating a Security Excellence Culture’ training model. The entry was backed by Santander, however it is a model that has been applied to many of our clients. The model involves clients, frontline staff and management to create a vision and set of supporting values in line with what the client is trying to achieve in terms of service standards and behavioural expectations. The winners will be announced at the awards dinner in London on 19 October. Congratulations to the TSM teams!
