Mitie launches dedicated response bike in London

Mitie is launching a Piaggio MP3 300 LT Touring bike, set to significantly reduce the company’s response times around the capital.

Mitie, the FTSE 250 strategic outsourcing company, is launching a Piaggio MP3 300 LT Touring bike, set to significantly reduce the company’s response times around the capital.

The bike will be used by Mitie’s total security management business to service its mobile response customers in London. It will be dedicated to responding to alarm activations, meaning a Mitie team will be able to arrive much more quickly to secure clients’ buildings.

The time benefits at stake are considerable. A recent test of a journey from Chigwell to central London took an hour by car but only 40 minutes on the MP3. The bike is also 35 per cent more fuel-efficient, helping Mitie to meet its commitment to sustainability.

Danny Vant, director for mobile services, and responsible for the growth of response and void property services, commented:

“The introduction of the MP3 will really benefit our clients, as the bike can navigate through the traffic and ensure our officers get to their destination quickly.

“We currently have one bike in London but we plan to deploy these in other major cities such as Manchester and Birmingham in the near future.”

Drivers don’t need a licence for the MP3 but full training is given to all Mitie drivers.
