Mitie, the FTSE 250 strategic outsourcing company, has recognised the achievements of its building services apprentices at an awards ceremony in central London.
Jack Seakins, 19, from the London Borough of Bexley was named Mitie’s National Apprentice of the Year. Jack, who joined Mitie in 2010, works on its contract with the City of London Corporation. He was chosen for his outstanding attitude and the enthusiasm he has shown to make a success of his apprenticeship.
This is the second award for Jack, having recently picked up the Apprentice of the Year award from external training provider BEST (Building Engineering Services Training).
On receiving his award, Jack said:
“Being chosen for the award came as a shock, but I’m really proud to have received it. I really enjoy what I’m doing and will continue working hard to complete my apprenticeship.”
Technical apprentices at Mitie specialise in trades including electrical, mechanical, gas, plumbing, heating, ventilation and air conditioning. Other apprenticeships in areas such as business administration are also available. There are currently 93 apprentices specialising in a trade.
Peter Mosley, managing director of Mitie’s Technical Facilities Management business, said:
“Our apprenticeship scheme is an important investment in the next generation of talent at Mitie. I started my career as an apprentice, and at Mitie we’re passionate about providing people of all backgrounds with opportunities to succeed.”
