The Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) has awarded its front of house and food services contract to Mitie’s client services business and BaxterStorey respectively, each for a term of five years.
RBS has operated a single supplier-model for both of these services over the past 15 years. The objective of this re-tender exercise was to continue to reduce the cost of delivery, whilst improving and enhancing the service proposition for the Group.
“Fresh thinking has played a major role,” explained Rebecca Stevenson from RBS’ property services division. “Splitting the contact was a big decision, and it has allowed us to consider specialists in their own field. Re-tendering the contract was already a big task as it required a detailed definition of the current services on an unprecedented scale.”
Martyn Freeman, managing director of Mitie’s facilities management division said: “This is a fantastic contract for Mitie, and demonstrates how clients are increasingly selecting us to represent their brand. Our front of house operations complement our full range of facilities management services, and our clients recognise us as a company fiercely passionate about its people.”

The tender process included supplier site visits to over 30 RBS locations in a single week, and the RBS evaluation team made visits to a further 20 supplier locations in London and the Regions to test the propositions.
