Mitie, the FTSE 250 strategic outsourcing and energy services company, has secured a five-year technical facilities management (FM) contract worth over £20m with Vauxhall.
The contract, valued at approximately £4m pa, covers three of Vauxhall’s major UK sites.
Mitie has been providing services at General Motors (GM) Ellesmere Port site since 2007. The new expanded contract covers the Ellesmere Port plant, Luton plant and Head Office plus the Heritage Building.
Mitie will self-deliver a comprehensive range of technical FM and energy services in a 24/7 manufacturing production environment, including the reactive breakdown and planned preventative maintenance activities for M&E engineering, fabric maintenance and the fork-lift truck fleet at each site.
The contract will also encompass managing the effluent water treatment plants used in production. The Ellesmere Port and Luton production plants will have a dedicated management structure and admin support.
Commenting on the contract award, Martin Holt, managing director of Mitie’s Technical Facilities Management business, said:
“This extended contract is a reflection of the excellent service delivery and commitment to cost efficiency that we have demonstrated at the Ellesmere Port site over the last five years.
“In addition, our energy savings proposition was an important factor to help us extend this major FM contract.”
Around 28,000 people are employed through the company’s activities with approximately 4,000 people at its Luton and Ellesmere Port sites.
