Interserve, the international support services and construction group, has secured a three-year contract extension with leading travel retailer Dufry.
Interserve will continue to deliver cleaning support for Dufry’s stores, which include the World Duty Free brand, at 16 major Spanish airports in Madrid, Barcelona, Alicante, Valencia, Bilbao, Santiago, Sevilla, Almería, Málaga, Girona, Reus, Palma de Mallorca, Mahón, Ibiza and Jerez. The account also covers cleaning services for the company’s headquarters in Madrid, its warehousing sites across Spain and for Dufry facilities in the Canary Islands.
The account extension builds on a longstanding relationship with the global retailer, which has seen Interserve provide cleaning services for the group since 2013.
José Luis García, General Manager of Interserve Spain, said that Interserve would bring its extensive experience to bear to support Dufry:
“Interserve has a strong presence in the airport sector and this account brings together the best of our expertise in aviation, retail and commercial environments to support Dufry’s national portfolio in Spain, whether on its airport shop floors or at its Madrid headquarters.
“The fast-paced world of retail and aviation requires a dynamic approach. Our work with Dufry over the last four years has been characterised by constant innovation and we will continue to look at new ways to deliver the high service standards that employees and customers have come to expect.”
The partnership has delivered a series of innovations to reflect the demands of operating retail stores within a busy transport hub, including the introduction of PULSE – a faster floor cleaning system to minimise disruption for passengers and ensure that stores look their best for shoppers. Interserve has also invested in a novel transport solution for its employees, using tricycles to help them cover large airport spaces more quickly and improve overall productivity.
In addition, Interserve and Dufry are working together to support the local communities around its sites, removing barriers to entry for people with disabilities to work within Interserve’s teams. This builds on the opening of Interserve’s Special Employment Centre in Spain in 2012, which is dedicated to supporting people with disabilities develop their careers in support services.
